Dual Battery FAQs

If you run a 12V fridge, camp lighting, a compressor, or plan to charge devices off-grid overnight, then yes — a dual battery system will protect your starter battery and give you reliable power without worry. Running a fridge off your starter battery for even one night is a recipe for a flat battery in the morning.
AGM batteries are affordable, proven and work well for most recreational touring setups. Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries are lighter, hold more usable capacity and charge faster — they're worth the extra cost if you tour regularly or run heavy loads. We'll help you choose based on your budget and how you use the vehicle.
Absolutely — and it's often cheaper to do it in one go. We can install a roof-mounted panel or set up a blanket/portable input at the same time as the dual battery system. A quality DC-DC charger like the REDARC BCDC can accept both alternator and solar input simultaneously.
A professionally installed dual battery system will not void your vehicle warranty under Australian consumer law (ACCC guidelines). We use correct cable sizing and fusing and keep our installation separate from factory wiring. If your dealer says otherwise, that's incorrect — installations must be proven to cause a specific fault before warranty can be denied.
A standard AGM dual battery install with DC-DC charger typically takes 3–5 hours. More complex systems with lithium, solar and multiple outputs can take a full day or more. We'll give you a confirmed timeframe when you book so you can plan around it.
